ITTA BENA, Miss. — (MVSU) will receive a $500,000 investment from FedEx to establish a new Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) concentration within the University’s Business Administration Department, strengthening workforce readiness and expanding career pathways for students in the Mississippi Delta.
The funding will support curriculum development, faculty excellence, and student success initiatives designed to prepare graduates for high-demand careers in logistics, transportation, and global supply chain operations. The new concentration aligns with MVSU’s mission to deliver community-centered economic development through academic innovation and industry partnerships.
“This investment represents more than financial support — it is a strategic commitment to our students, our faculty, and the economic future of the Mississippi Delta,” said President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr. “By expanding opportunities in logistics and supply chain management, we are equipping our scholars with the skills needed to compete and lead in a global economy.”

University officials say the initiative will enhance interdisciplinary learning within the College of Business, provide students with industry-relevant competencies, and strengthen MVSU’s role as a pipeline for talent in logistics and supply chain fields.
“This opportunity reflects our shared commitment to education, access, and economic mobility,” said Kathie Stromile Golden, PhD, Provost/Senior Vice-President for Academic Affairs. “FedEx’s continued engagement allows MVSU to expand academic offerings that directly connect students to real-world careers and regional workforce needs.”
